Invite a managed storyteller
Invite a parent, grandparent, or loved one to record into the biography you hold.
Each managed storyteller is a separate Fablr purchase. You keep the account and the finished stories. Checkout asks for their name and email; it never contacts them. Afterwards the invite page lets you send or schedule the invitation email, or copy their private recording link to share yourself. SMS reminders are optional: once the invitation email has been sent, an Open manual setup link appears in the storyteller's menu on your profile, and reminders only start after they open it, enter their own US or Canada mobile number, accept the SMS terms, and verify it. They control that choice, and they can stop the texts later.
Who this is for
You hold the Fablr account and are helping a parent, grandparent, or loved one record their memories.
Before you start
- Each storyteller is their own Fablr purchase; you keep the account and the finished stories.
- The invitation email carries their private recording link. The SMS setup link is separate, only matters if they want reminder texts, and only appears in their menu after that email has been sent.
- SMS reminders work only with a US or Canada mobile number. Anyone else can still record, just without reminder texts.
- You cannot enter the storyteller's phone number or consent to SMS on their behalf.
What to do next
- Open your profile and find Your storytellers. If you have not bought a storyteller yet, choose Gift Fablr to a storyteller and complete checkout with their name and email (both are required).
- After checkout, choose Open invite page. Nothing is sent until you do this.
- On the invite page, review their email and personal note, then choose Send invitation now or Schedule invitation. You can also choose Copy private recording link and paste it into your own text or email, but SMS reminders stay unavailable until the invitation email has been sent.
- They open the private recording link and can record right away, without creating an account.
- After the invitation email has been sent, Open manual setup link appears in the storyteller's menu (the ... button) under Your storytellers. Open it or share that address with them; they enter their own US or Canada mobile number, accept the SMS terms, and verify the one-time code. They can reply STOP to stop the texts.
How you know it worked
The storyteller can open their private recording link and record without an account, and they decide whether SMS reminders start.
If something goes wrong
They can't find the invite email.
Choose Resend invite under Your storytellers, or copy their private recording link from the invite page and send it yourself. If their SMS setup link has expired, Resend invite issues a fresh one that you can open or share again from Open manual setup link. Only you can refresh it, not the storyteller.
They want their own account instead.
Use a gift so they own their own account and biography, then walk them through recipient onboarding.
