No. 01 · Mission Every story is worth telling.
The stories we tell — and the ones told to us — are how we come to know each other. The funny ones. The hard ones. The ones we only told once. A life is made up of them, and yet most of them never get written down. Not because they aren't worth it, but because writing is work, and nobody's childhood fits neatly into a questionnaire.
Fablr exists because those stories shouldn't have to be written down to be kept. They just need to be told, to somebody who's listening.
Why we built Fablr
My brother and I got our dad one of those “write your biography” gifts. He loved the idea. He used it. He just didn't like it — it felt like work. Answering prompts, finding time to write, facing a blank page alone. The conversations we had together around the dinner table were alive. The homework wasn't.
That stuck with me. His stories were great; the tool was the problem. Ask someone about their life in a real conversation and something changes — they light up. Stories come out the way they're meant to: spoken, remembered, unhurried.
So we built Fablr to be the opposite of homework. One button, no prompts. You talk. It listens, remembers, asks thoughtful follow-ups, and turns what you said into a story that sounds like you.
No. 02 · Approach Conversations, not questionnaires.
Fablr is built around conversation. Instead of forms and writing prompts, you talk. Fablr listens, asks gentle follow-up questions, and helps you go a little deeper — like a good interviewer would.
After you talk, Fablr turns what you said into a story you can read and share. And because the best memories usually include other people, you can invite family or friends to add their perspective too — a detail you forgot, a photo, or a short story of their own. Your life wasn't solo, and your story doesn't have to be either.
No. 03 · Why it matters The best stories aren't written down — they're told.
Think of the stories you love most about the people you love. Chances are, you heard them. They came out over coffee, in the car, at the end of a long dinner. That's how stories are meant to live — told, not typed. Fablr is built to meet you there.
Our core benefits:
- A biographer that remembers. Each conversation picks up where the last one left off.
- At your pace. Talk for ten minutes or an hour. Come back whenever you want.
- Easy to share. Keep stories private, or share them with family.
- Your voice matters. Stories sound like you — your tone, your details, your perspective.
- Private by default. Built with respect for personal stories and data.
Whether it's one story or a hundred, what matters is that it's told. Families tell us a single recorded memory can be worth the whole gift.
No. 04 · Values How we make decisions.
- Comfort first. No pressure, no performance, no homework.
- Real voice. Stories should sound like the person who lived them.
- Human connection. The best memories usually include other people.
- Simple by design. Make it easy to start — and easy to come back.
- Privacy & trust. Treat personal stories with care and respect.
No. 05 · Who we are A family-run studio in Sacramento.
Fablr is a family-run business based in Sacramento, California.
We're still early, and we're building carefully. If you're looking to preserve your own stories — or help a loved one share theirs — we'd be glad to be part of that.
