Most of us never ask
Ask your mom about the recipe card in her handwriting, or the year she went back to work, and she’ll tell you. Most of us just never get around to asking.
Fablr does the asking. Mom gets a year of voice conversations with a biographer that asks about her life and remembers what she said. The family gets a hardcover of her stories, with a code on each recorded chapter that plays her voice.
How to give it on the day
- Write one question in her card: “What was your mother’s kitchen like?”
- Sit with her for the first conversation if she’d like company.
- There’s nothing to ship until the book is ordered, so it works the morning of.
What she does
She presses one button on a phone, tablet or computer and talks, whenever she likes. If you set it up as a gift, she opens a private link, with no account and no password. If something comes out wrong, she says so and approves the correction on the page.
What you get
A full-color, 8.5x11 hardcover of her stories in her own words, included in the $149 and shipped free in the US.
Questions to start her off
- What do you remember about your grandmother?
- What was the first meal you cooked on your own?
- What was the best advice your mother gave you?
- What were you most nervous about when you became a mother?
- What’s a day you would live again?
